This week we’re featuring Fortified Wines. When a distilled spirit is added to a wine, it is known as a Fortified Wine. Usually, brandy is added to the wine which generally provides a higher alcohol content. Many different styles of fortified wine have been developed, including Port, Sherry & Madeira. Please see below for some great deals on these fantastic fortified wines.

Deep amber color. Bright aromas and flavors of nut brittle, orange marmalade, and earth with a body and a warming, easy finish with suggestions of almond skin and minerals with fine tannins and light oak. A nice piquant Sherry with refreshing acidity and fruitiness.
Maple, brown sugar, caramel and cinnamon powder aromas portend sweetness. In the mouth, this is fairly heavy and syrupy, with moderate acidity. Caramel and mushroom flavors finish fragmented but with potency.
Straw color. Bright aromas and flavors of dried citrus, almond nut brittle, and herbs with a silky, bright, dry medium body and an even, carefree finish. A rock solid fino Sherry that will cover a lot of bases.
Deep amber color. Bright aromas and flavors of honeyed peach, praline, and mocha with a silky, vibrant, fruity sweet medium body and a seamless, captivating, medium-length finish with impressions of cherry preserves, honey, and delicate spice with silky tannins and light oak. A delicious dessert Sherry.
Perfect balance between sweetness, tartness, and alcohol content. It has strong aromas of dark berries and lavender. A wine best served with a full stomach and a full glass in front of a fire.

Attractive character of plums and freshly brewed coffee, with just a hint of caramel. Medium-bodied, sweet and delicious. Rather young in style. Drink now.
Brown/ orange in colour. Lovely fresh, complex, tangy, herby, citrussy fruit. Lively and fresh with some nut and toffee notes, but also lovely freshness and complexity.
A dry wine with a clean aroma which shows the wines evolution. This wine is reminiscent of brown spices, nuts and citrus peel. It is a complex wine with fresh acidity and with an extraordinary long finish.
15 Year-old Sercial offers more drive and fruit intensity on the nose than the 10 Year-Old, with vivacious aromas of dried honey, hazelnut and a touch of marmalade. The palate is medium-bodied with lemongrass driving the spicy entry. This Sercial shows good weight and sweetness, leading to a harmonious spice and clove-infused finish that lingers nicely in the mouth.
Deep orange/ brown in colour. Complex, herby and spicy nose with toffee and citrus peel. The palate is rich with round fruit and a spicy finish. Really nice stuff that's bold and a bit nutty.
A ripe and spicy style, with red plum and briary flavors that take on some savory herbal accents. Offers a short, juicy finish.
Amber colour, with good fruit and a slightly nutty character on the nose, very smooth on the palate with an excellent long finish.

With lots of powerful cherry and plum fruit flavours, followed by a warming complexity and a beautifully balanced, sweet finish, this is what port, and Christmas, is all about!
