91 WS Very rich indeed. Lighter in color than many 2000 Barbarescos, but delivers decadent meaty, earthy, ripe fruit aromas. Medium- to full-bodied, with soft tannins and a ripe, rich finish. Long in the mouth. Best after 2006. 530 cases made.

92 Robert Parker The 2004 Barolo Cannubbio possesses virtually the same amount of weight and density as the Brunate which is hard to believe. In fact the wine remains incredibly primary, with virtually no development. With time in the glass some fruit emerges but the tannins remain imposing. A slight note of floral lift on the finish is one of the only clues that this is a Barolo from the Cannubi vineyard. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2029.

94 Rating WE; 93 Rating WS Dark in color with a modern style and velvety extraction, the gorgeous Marcenesco expression of Barolo is redolent of blackberries, cherries, spice, leather and tobacco. The finish is long and elegant but not without power and determination. Drink now or keep this wine cellared for 10 years.

95 RP The 2004 Barolo Arborina is a surprisingly super-ripe, concentrated and soft-textured wine loaded with sweet fruit. It offers outstanding length and ripe tannins in a very seductive style of Barolo. Three bottles have shown some degree of variation, suggesting the wine is still acquiring its balance after its bottling this summer. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2022.

Reddish-amber hue. Aroma is mellow and inviting: blackberry, plum and tobacco scents mingle with captivating orange peel evolving over time. Lush, sweet and mellow in a loamy, minerally Burgundian way, but with a marzipan quality that screams Barolo. Intense!

96 RP The estate's 2004 Barolo Bric del Fiasc is another awesome wine. Initially linear on entry, it explodes on the palate with a compelling array of dark fruit, smoke, tar, licorice, new leather, plums and baking spices. Although Bric del Fiasc is typically a wine that relies on power, the 2004 is notably refined and elegant, with sweet silky tannins that support the fruit from start to finish. Simply put, this is a remarkable wine from Enrico Scavino. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2022.

89 pts - WA. Sweet berries and roses, with hints of licorice, follow through to a full body, with soft tannins and a fruity finish. Slightly one-dimensional, but very attractive.

97 RP The 2004 Barolo Ciabot Mentin Ginestra sweeps across the palate with stunning depth and expansiveness in its dark cherries, menthol, spices, chocolate and sweet toasted oak. It offers exceptional length and delineation, with a note of freshness that provides lift on the close. It is a profound effort from Domenico Clerico. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2024.

91 pts. -WS Aromas of raw meat and ripe fruit, with hints of flowers. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a long, rich finish. This is outstanding, but proves that Barbaresco made outstanding- not great-wines in 1999.

91RP 2000 La Spinetta Barbaresco Starderi\ufffdRich saturated ruby. A full-throttle wine, packed with over-ripe, almost too-sweet fruit, sensations of truffles, cherries in liqueur, spices, stewed plums, licorice and roasted coffee beans. This is a wine of great length and persistence, although stylistically I much preferred the 2001.
