91-WS Shows elegance and finesse, but also an understated power, as the initial richness gives way to the firm structure, setting the stage for biscuit, honey and ginger notes. Fine length.

94 pts WS Hints of burnt sugar and toffee accent this bright Champagne, along with notes of apple pie, bread dough, cream and candied lemon peel. There's a fine balance between the wine's finesse and its lively character, with a long, smoke-tinged finish. Better than previously reviewed. Drink now through 2024.

92 WS Rich and creamy, showing the dried fruit, nut and spice notes of fruitcake, with lemon meringue, quince and honey flavors. Clean citrusy acidity integrates beautifully and provides an elegance to this refined Champagne. Drink now through 2020.

90 WE An attractive combination of vanilla, toast, honey and citrus flavors marks this medium-bodied Champagne, which ends with a bright burst of apple and lemon. Drink now through 2012.

A rich, full-bodied style of wine, which has some caramel flavors as well as white peach flavors. Jacquart is a great value brand from one of the big cooperatives, and this style is immediately attractive and easy.

There is great intensity to this finely crafted Champagne. It's rich and toasty, with flavors of ripe gooseberries and, in this example, some good bottle age. Henriot, which also owns Bouchard et Fils in Burgundy, is obviously on a good streak at the moment.

95 RP--I highly recommend the Veuve Clicquot 1990 La Grande Dame. It is exquisitely rich and accessible, yet bursting with potential. Additional Note: Pale gold color with jade glints. The wine is crystal clear, with unbelievably fine bubbles. On the first nose, typical Chardonnay characteristics come to the fore, with the arrival of floral and mineral aromas (acacia, ferns, chalk). By agitating the wine, scents of candied fruit (citrus fruits, apricots, quince) and sweet almond emerge, to reappear later in the mouth. After rotating the wine for a few minutes more, rare notes such as peaty malt, tobacco and delicate herbs, are gradually unveiled. This aromatic, impressively complex bouquet is confirmed in the mouth. On the palate, the wine is clear-cut and pure, perfectly balanced with a delightful silky smoothness.

Good character here, showing malt, bread dough, citrus and mineral flavors matched to a lightweight, vibrant frame. It has moderate intensity and a lingering finish. drink now.

Rich and earthy with complex pear, toast and honeyed flavors that taste mature, picking up carmel and earth flavors that offer uncommon depth and richness. Delicious.

90 Points The Wine Advocate This is an interesting NV Champagne with pretty, exotic Meunier flavors that drew me in. The wine possesses notable clarity in a generous yet focused style with floral and mineral notes that come through on the finish. There is terrific depth, and this may very well turn out to be a NV that shows even better in six months time. It is a great effort at this level.
