There is richness in the beginning of this medium-bodied white, then a tart, drying acidity chokes the finish. Modest fruit. 500 cases made.

This wine blends intense green apple and lime fruit aromas with scents of rock dust and petrol. It's medium-bodied and plump in texture, easily gliding along with flavors of apple seed oil, honey and ripe citrus, finishing soft, yet persistent.

93 R. Parker The 2003 possesses superb ripeness as well as a stony, mineral liqueur like intensity, a reticent but promising perfume of black raspberries, sweet kirsch, and blacker fruits, a full bodied, powerful, concentrated attack and midpalate, and a blockbuster, long, powerful, moderately tannic finish. It is an infant in terms of development. No doubt this sites clay and limestone soils were the perfect antidote for the summers torrid heat and drought. This superb effort should only be purchased by patient connoisseurs. Anticipated maturity: 2011 to 2025

The most unique aspect of this Syrah is the complexity. The Hummingbird Hill fruit provides the ripe blackberry and viscous mouth feel while the Clary fruit provides white pepper, finesse and a blueberry component. Elements of this wine remind us clearly of the wines from the cold Northern Rhone Region of France. Yet it has a fullness and elegance that says California. This duplicity is what makes wines from the Sonoma Coast so unique.
