"A consistent winner in nearly every vintage, this dense ruby purple tinged 2005 reveals notions of toasty oak, roasted coffee, creme de cassis, spring flowers, licorice, and spice, and tastes like it came from a much more renowned terroir."
"95 pts - WS. A terrific effort from bad boy and leading garagiste, Jean-Luc Thunevin, and his sidekick, Murielle Andraud, the inky/blue/purple-tinged 2005 Valandraud exhibits superb aromas of graphite, black currants, blackberries, violets, white chocolate, sweet licorice, and espresso roast. Boasting great intensity, full-bodied power, beautiful purity, and layers of complexity, this stunning wine should be unusually long-lived. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2025+."
"Dark garnet in color, the aromas emerge from the glass as bright red fruits - cherry, raspberry, plum - and rose pedal notes. In the mouth, the wine is smooth with flavors of cherry, blackberry, white pepper and clove. A beautiful Rhone style blend!"
"92 Robert Parker An inky/ruby/purple color is followed by a sumptuous bouquet of violets, melted licorice, creosote, black cherries, blackberries, and espresso. Boasting super intensity, huge, full-bodied opulence and power, and plenty of sweet tannin and glycerin. 2014 to 2030."
"93 Points- Wine & Spirits. This is a wine that takes time to unfold, starting out deeply toasty and even tannic, getting brighter and more refined as it opens. Never does the flavor come across as fruity; instead, the flavor is so deeply savory it brings to mind brioche spread with foie gras. A blend of Obaideh and Merwah."
"Wonderful aromas of pineapple and dried apple character, with just a hint of honey. Full-bodied, with fabulous honey and apricot. Sweet and spicy. Could be another 2001 in the making. Score range: 92-94 - WS"
"97 Points- Wine Spectator & Enthusiast. This has a deliciously pure feel, with juicy, inviting green plum, ginger, heather, creamed pineapple and Jonagold apple flavors all melded together and gliding through the lengthy finish, which echoes with lilting flowers and dried citrus notes. Best from 2015 through 2045."
"94 pts Robert Parker Tasted single blind against its peers. The Chateau Coutet 2007 has a very intense bouquet with lemon curd and orange blossom mixed with clear honey. There is impressive precision here, almost crystalline. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine viscous entry, great weight and intensity with racy acidity. There is also much tension cutting through the layers of viscous fruit on the sorbet-like finish. This is a typical Coutet through and through and it should age effortlessly over 20-30 years."
"92 Points- Wine Advocate. Waxy, dried pineapple, honey and petrol-tinged bouquet that gains vigor in the glass. The palate is fresh and vibrant with plenty of botrytis: very harmonious with honeyed fruit laced with dried orange peel, quince and ginger. This builds extremely well in the mouth and fans out in glorious fashion on the finish."
"Another excellent vintage for Bordeaux's dry whites, which tend to be vastly underrated and exceptionally long-lived (30-40 years in some cases). The 2005s possess crisp acidity as well as serious weight, richness, and texture. Space constraints did not allow full tasting notes, but this is one of the top 2005 dry white Bordeaux wines. 92-95 pts. - Parker"
