94 WE Duckhorn's Three Palms bottling is one of the oldest and most consistent Merlot designations in California and this is a classic example. The wine is always very tannic. But the '05 is dry and rich with mineral-laden cherries and currants with just the right application of new oak. Decant.

The 2005 is a charming white dessert wine made from solely from Fernao Pires and aged in barriques. Moderately sweet, elegant and easy drinking this is clean and friendly, perhaps best used as an aperitif. The apricot nuances on the finish are delicious. It is hard to stop drinking it. This comes in a 375ml bottle. Drink now to 2013.

92 pts - WS Milk chocolate and blackberry aromas follow through to a full body, with very soft tannins and a long, caressing finish. This is so delicious now, but has a balance of fruit and tannins. One of the best from this estate in some time. Best after 2014.

Has a dark, mountain-grown fruit profile, with a brambly undertow to the dark licorice, loam, black currant, tobacco and coffee flavors. Solid structure dominates the finish. Drink now.

95 pts - WS. A terrific effort from bad boy and leading garagiste, Jean-Luc Thunevin, and his sidekick, Murielle Andraud, the inky/blue/purple-tinged 2005 Valandraud exhibits superb aromas of graphite, black currants, blackberries, violets, white chocolate, sweet licorice, and espresso roast. Boasting great intensity, full-bodied power, beautiful purity, and layers of complexity, this stunning wine should be unusually long-lived. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2025+.

96 WS--This has plenty of power. Starts out with a swagger, introducing the apricot, pineapple and toast flavors, then picks up again on the finish, where the bracing structure emerges, driving the dried citrus, toast, spice, and mineral flavors to a long conclusion. Best from 2010 through 2030. 300 cases made. \ufffdBS

Superexciting aromas of crushed berry, coffee and dark chocolate. Full-bodied, very velvety and a long, long finish. Gorgeous. Almost classic quality. Score range: 92-94 -WS

90 RP The wine was barrel-fermented and aged in French and American oak, 26% new. Dark ruby/crimson-colored, it offers complex aromas of cedar, violets, cassis, and black currants. Medium to full-bodied and smooth-textured, the wine has layered ripe flavors, excellent concentration, and a long, seamless finish. Drink this tasty Cabernet over the next 8-10 years.

No rating found...but WOW...what a great bottle of wine! Earthy bouquet of black fruits and saddle leather. Medium to full bodied palate with a fair amount of tannins. Brambly, rustic, powerful, enjoy now or keep the next five years.
