CROFT VINTAGE PORT 1970 is a rich and complex fortified wine from the prestigious Douro Valley in Portugal. It showcases deep flavors of dark fruits, such as blackberry and plum, complemented by notes of chocolate, spice, and a subtle nutty finish, indicative of its aging potential and craftsmanship.
This vintage port pairs well with rich desserts like chocolate cakes and cheese, particularly strong blue cheeses or aged Cheddar. It can also be enjoyed alongside roasted nuts or as a delightful finale to a fine meal.

The 1970 Croft Vintage Port has a russet core. The nose is detailed and focused with an attractive bouquet of cooked meats, mulberry, spice and leather. It is light and feminine, although it never really develops the nuance that I was hoping for in the glass. The palate is vigorous and not quite as elegant as the 1966: a little more alcoholic and unrefined, the finish more linear with liquorice, burnt toffee and raisin. Moderate length.
