The wine has a deep ruby color with purple tinges. Its nose shows aromas of blackberries and spices, lifted by some mineral and gently wooded notes. Well concentrated, this wine has pure flavors that come to the palate in successive layers of varying aromas, all of equal intensity. (Mar2021)

A straight up gorgeous wine that’s up with the crème de la crème of the vintage, the 2014 Saint Joseph Sainte Epine sports an inky color as well as terrific notes of cassis, graphite, crushed rocks and smoked meats. Rich, medium-bodied, nicely concentrated and focused, it's more Hermitage than St Joseph.
Vivid purple. Pungent, high-pitched aromas of fresh dark berries, potpourri and spicecake, showing a smoky mineral overtone and a hint of cola. Juicy and sharply focused on the palate, offering sappy black and blue fruit flavors and a deeper suggestion of candied licorice. Closes with excellent clarity and spicy thrust; a floral quality adds lift to the very long, gently tannic finish.
