The 2019 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru is very backward on the nose and lactic in style, maybe picked a little later than its peers. But, it does seems to cohere in the glass and develop a pleasing florality. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, judiciously-applied oak, commendable depth of fruit and insistent grip on the fresh and pleasingly saline finish. There is a completeness to this Charmes-Chambertin that will stand it in good stead for long-term aging. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
