Whirligig built the machine after a winter spent watching maple seeds come down. Two blades, one seat, and a lemon in the toolbox for reasons she has never explained. She flies low over the blueberry barrens early in the season, when the fruit is dense enough to be worth the trip and the wind has not yet made up its mind.

Blueberry and lemon at more than two pounds of real fruit to the gallon, the Midwest end of the scale and about as much as a can will hold.
